Third Trimester Already?

Holy cow, where did the time go?? It is hard to believe that I am 30 weeks pregnant with only 10 weeks to go! I'm feeling good, although work is getting harder. Despite wearing medical hose to keep the swelling down, my work clogs don't fit some days. It's harder to get down on the floor with the big dogs and anywhere near the surgery table. I've also mostly given up wearing my wedding rings for fear that I won't be able to get them back off. I've gained 28 pounds so far. The baby kicks and squirms all day long, and sometimes all night long too.

Due to communication problems with my last OB's office, I switched practices. I saw my new Dr. last week and really liked her. She felt that everything was going fine with the pregnancy thus far, and wasn't too concerned with the ventricle size since it was still within the normal range. When I went back for my glucose test however, I failed it by 20 points so I had to go back in yesterday for the 3-hr test which was much worse. Fasting overnight was hard enough at 7 months pregnant, but rapidly drinking a flat orange soda with 100 grams of sugar first thing in the morning on any empty stomach is enough to make anyone feel nauseous all day, pregnant or not! Glad that's over, but still waiting for the results.

Alex repeats "baby" when he points to my stomach (actually to my navel), but when we read books about babies or point out other people's young babies, I'm not sure he connects the two. He knows that his old room is "the baby's room", and that he's getting an "hermanito" (brother), but I wonder how big of a shock the arrival of his brother will actually be to him. And to us, who are so content with our little family as it is now!

(By the way, Alex took this self-portrait a couple of weeks ago when I let him hold my camera for a second. It took me 15 minutes today to figure out that every new picture I took was coming out blurry because of the Alex-fingerprint on the lens, but it was worth it! The rock star hair is about due for a major haircut, but he thinks he's a cool dude and is thinking about joining Brian Ramirez's new band.)

You look great as usual Libby. Glad you posted a new belly shot. Alex is getting so big he's a little boy now. I hope the new baby has the same blue eyes. Take care!
