Another brief Doctor's appointment yesterday. I have gained 15 pounds and baby had a good heart rate of 142 beats/min. I'm still feeling great and feel very blessed to have had an easy pregnancy so far. The toothpaste aversion is gone, and the only cravings I have had so far have been for baked potatoes...with cheddar cheese, sour cream and butter of course. So much for healthy. At least with Alex I craved cheese burgers and could at least tell myself I needed the protein!
We need some help with the name game. When I was pregnant with Alex, there was only one boy name that we could agree on... and now that we've used it, we're stumped. Thanks for all the suggestions so far. They have been at least good for laughs... Snuffleupagus, Holy Frijole, and Perry Gustaves Columbus Juan Ramirez the VI... as well as some for serious consideration like Nathan, Dylan, Tyler and Will. Alex suggested Shrek. They are all great names, however, we neglected to tell you that there are a few rules. Here they are, in order of importance.
1) We want a name that sounds cross-cultural, i.e. that could be hispanic but isn't necessarily. That's why we liked Alex so much. For example, Preston is too "white", and Javier is too "brown".
2) It has to sound good with Ramirez. That goes along with rule #1.
3) It can't start with Al. We already have an ALbert and an ALex. No need to add to the confusion.
4) We prefer short, simple names.

I googled "hispanic baby boy names" and found a couple of good sites:

You've made a mockery of the name Frijole, and I would never have thought that was even possible! It's not Holy Frijole. It's just Frijole. Frijole Ramirez.
Mackenna made me laugh...
Mack, complain to Tripp. It was his suggestion, cause this baby is not just any "frijole". Course he also suggested snuffleupagus.
Okay - here is our composite here in Laguna : Holy Moly Friole ! But all kidding aside - what about Skylar or Sky ( technically it isn't too 'white' as it is sky blue ! Grammy BeBe
here are some from my class this year and you can pronounce them "white" or "brown": gabriel or ivan
